Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Running On Android 7.0 Nougat, Gets WiFi Certification

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is all set to receive the Android Nougat update, since an Android 7.0-powered model has been granted WiFi certification recently by the WiFi Alliance (WFA). Samsung's other flagships like Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have recently received Android 7.0 Nougat update.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphone back in the year 2015. The smartphone came with Android Lollipop at that time and currently runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, now, the smartphone has been spotted with Android Nougat operating system as the device got now Wifi certification. According to the WiFi Alliance certification, Samsung looks like to be testing the latest software and may release the same for the device soon. 

Wi-Fi certification reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ will support 2.4GHz single-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity features. The listing also mentioned that the smartphone boasts the model number SM-G928A with the certification ID WFA60782 and the date of certification being 27th February, 2017, according to Sam Mobile.

Samsung Turkey last week shared a detailed Nougat release roadmap unveiling that the Galaxy S6 edge+ will get the update around mid-March. If this proves to be true then other regions should also get the update around the same time, as per GSM Arena. As the device has started collecting necessary certifications, it looks like the update is on the track.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ comes with the a large 5.7-inch Super-AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution, 4 GB RAM and running Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It is powered by Samsung's 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset which has four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz.

Galaxy S6 Edge+ also has the features like fast charging and wireless charging. For connectivity, the device has 4G, NFC, WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, micro USB 2.0 port, and GPS with GLONASS and Beidou. It has a fingerprint sensor too.

As the smartphone got the WiFi certification, this could mean that the Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 edge+ could be released around the same time across other market regions as well. However there is no direct confirmation for the Nougat update on Galaxy S6 edge+.
